August Specht joined Agilent in June 2025 as Chief Technology Officer, responsible for leading Agilent’s enterprise-wide technology strategy, development and innovation initiatives.

August brings more than 20 years of experience in designing, developing, and marketing analytical instruments, software, and consumables that support scientific advancement around the world. His work reflects a deep understanding of the scientific community’s evolving needs and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions that will help customers bring great science to life.

Prior to joining Agilent, August served as vice president of Global R&D for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he led global teams and guided key-product innovations.

His career includes a variety of leadership roles in R&D, product management, strategy, and business development at both Thermo Fisher Scientific and Varian Instruments.

August holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry from Queen’s University in Canada, a doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
